Kalutara tuition master in sexual abuse case remanded till May 26

The tuition master who was arrested by the Kalutara Child and Women Abuse Prevention Bureau on the charge of sexually abusing female students were ordered to be remanded till May 26 by Kalutara Chief Magistrate

Neetha Hemamali Halpandeniya yesterday. This suspect in question was arrested by the police in connection with the sexual abuse of a group of female students who attended his tuition classes in Kalutara.

The police informed the court that the suspect who was conducting tuition classes in Kalutara North had sexually assaulted the female students of his classes. The suspect had been examined by the Judicial Medical Officer and the police requested permission to imprison him and then send him to a psychiatrist. The magistrate then allowed him to be referred to a psychiatrist on May 15.

Representing the defence, the lawyer stated that the allegations were fabricated by the suspect’s wife, and that his client denies the allegations and that he be released on suitable bail.

Inspector Disna Priyanthi and Sergeant K.V.D. Nayanakumara (40173) reported the facts to the court, on behalf of the police.

The case is scheduled to be taken up for hearing again on May 26.
