A two-and-a-half-acre ganja field that had been illegally cultivated in the Yala forest reserve was raided by the Special Task Force using drone camera technology. Four suspects along with a firearm were arrested yesterday (30 April) as a result of the raid. The four suspects identified as residents of Thanamalwila area.
These suspects have been handed over to the Kataragama Police by the Special Task Force for further investigations.
This is also not the first time a cannabis farm has been raided in the Yala reserve. Even in the month of February this year a Okkampitiya Police arrested five suspects with 122 kgs worth of cannabis in the Yala reserve.
