Chief Government Whip Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said a Presidential Commission with full powers should be appointed to look into the tragic incidents that took place during the violent period of the Aragalaya in the country.
The Minister told the media yesterday that a formal request of ruling party parliamentarians has already been submitted to the President and a positive response is expected from the President. Minister Ranatunga said, “It has to be investigated to find out as to who was behind the peaceful Aragalaya at the outset and who supported and funded the violent Aragalaya at the end.” He questioned as to why the Tri Forces acted passively to control the violent incidents and who gave orders to the Tri Forces at the time of crisis.
The people were provoked and the administration of the country collapsed, the Minister said.
