After a lapse of several years, the Galle Literary Festival (GLF) is set to resume following a directive from President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
A series of programs featuring various art forms will be held in Galle, Matara, Ahangama and Hikkaduwa in January 2024 to promote the tourism industry.
A preliminary discussion was held in this connection yesterday (28) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Wickremesinghe.
The President stressed the importance of organising it in a way that it highlights Sri Lanka’s identity and pride to the world. Many programs to promote the tourism industry through various art forms are also scheduled to be held including the new art media (Modern Art), music, fashion shows, book exhibitions and festivals.
The President said that the revival of the tourism industry is a top priority for the Government, and the support of all parties is necessary for the programs to be successful.
