
The Minister of Education, Dr. Susil Premajayantha appointed Committee consisting of five members, to investigate the problems and shortcomings of the Sri Lankan Principals’ Service and immediately report solutions for them.
The Committee consisting of experts in the fields of education and administration, including Prof.Gunapala Nanayakkara, advisor to the Ministry of Education, has already commenced its work.
The Chairman stated that arrangements have been made to conduct interviews with various organizations from 15th May.The Committee also intend to hold discussions with experts in the field of education and visit zonal offices and some selected schools to inquire into the current situation regarding the principal's role.
The Committee has received suggestions from all Principals' Associations and hasgranted time till the 9thof May to present further facts. The Committee Report is to be submitted in the next two months.
