The Cabinet has approved the proposal to limit the construction of new buildings of more than 4 floors in Nuwara Eliya district with effect from the 1st of May. The regulations on the building construction limit is being imposed under the provisions of the Urban Development Authority Act.
It has been revealed that the tourism industry has been severely damaged due to the damage to the natural beauty of the Nuwara Eliya area due to unplanned development projects this measure is taken to address that issue.
