Historic paintings gifted to India

A series of historic paintings were unveiled by the Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Sri Lanka.

The paintings were presented by Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner, Milinda Moragoda, and depicted the arrival of King Ashoka’s son, Mahendra, and his daughter, Sangamitra to Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner was accompanied by a group of bhikkhus from Sri Lanka, led by the Most Ven. Waskaduwe Mahindawansa Mahanayake Thera. Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation Abhijit Halder was also present.
