Programmes to obtain NICs to those without Birth Certificates

21 April, 2023

The Department of Registration of Persons has announced that a program has been prepared to issue National ID cards to persons over the age of 40 who are unable to obtain a National ID card due to the absence of a birth certificate.

Accordingly, Sri Lankan citizens over 40 years of age who have permanent residence in a GramaNiladhari division, and are registered in the voter's register, who have not yet obtained a national identity card due to the absence of a birth certificate, will have the opportunity to apply for this.

More information about this can be obtained from the Development Officers of the Department of Registration of Persons attached to the Divisional Secretariat Offices
