1,320 new doctors from April 25

20 April, 2023

The Health Ministry will give appointments to 1,320 new doctors from April 25.

These doctors will be assigned to hospitals all over the country from that day, and steps will be taken to direct these doctors to hospitals in more remote areas.

Currently, the total number of doctors in Sri Lanka is about 19,000 and with the appointment of new doctors, it exceeds 20,000.

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that despite the economic problems that existed in the country in the past, the fact that such a large number of doctors being appointed was a victory for the free health service in the country.
