The Ministry of Power and Energy has completed 90 percent of the survey for the project to install solar panels on the rooftops of Government buildings and religious places. The survey is due to be completed next week.
The project is being carried out using the US$ 100 million credit facility from the Government of India, a Power and Energy Ministry spokesman said.
The solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of national schools, universities, vocational training centres, teachers’ training colleges, military buildings, police stations and non-revenue religious centres of all religions and other Government buildings.
The tender process of the project will be conducted by the Exim Bank of India and the purchase of solar panels will also be procured by the bank, he said.
