Faulty brakes on a boom truck caused a major accident on the Pasyala-Mirigama Central Expressway access road yesterday.
Police said the driver apparently lost control of his vehicle after the brakes malfunctioned, which resulted in the truck hitting eight three-wheelers, a car and a motorcycle around 7 p.m. last night near Kaleliya. Four persons were injured and admitted to hospital, but their condition was reported to be stable. Police have arrested the driver of the truck in connection with the accident and he is to be produced in Court. The driver was to be subjected to a breathalyzer test as well. Mirigama Police are investigating.
