Two students, aged 18 and 19, died and seven others were injured when the cab they were travelling in at high speed toppled over a Municipal waste ground under reclamation in Badulla.
The boys were from Badulla Dharmadutha College. They were enjoying a drive in the cab during their big match, the cricket encounter between Badulla Uva College and Badulla Dharmadutha College, Badulla, police said.
The accident took place around 12.45 pm, Badulla police said.
The boys were reportedly racing the cab in the Municipal grounds under reclamation. The vehicle overturned as it was taking a sharp turn at high speed.
The two boys died before admission to the Badulla General hospital. Seven boys were receiving treatment at the hospital at the time this edition went to press.
