Inflation further down in March

The Census and Statistics Department yesterday said that headline inflation as measured by Year on Year change in the Colombo Price Index (CCPI) has decreased to 50.3 per cent in March compared to 50.6 per cent recorded in February, 2023.

The CCPI report released by the Department yesterday added that Y-o-Y inflation of the food Group substantially dropped to 47.6 per cent in March, from the 54.4 per cent recorded last month , while Y-o-Y inflation in the Non Food Group increased to 51.7 per cent this month from the 48.8 per cent recorded in February 2023.

The CCPI for all items for March was recorded at 195.0, with an increase of 5.5 in index points (2.92%) from February 2023, for which the index was 189.5.
