No recognition of political parties - Elections Commission

17 March, 2023

The Elections Commission yesterday said that the political parties that fail to submit audited accounts for 2021 within 14 days beginning from yesterday will not be accepted as recognised political parties.

The Commission said that audited accounts of recognised political parties should be submitted to the Commission.

The statements of audited accounts of recognised political parties should be submitted to the Elections Commission under the Parliamentary Elections Act of 1981. However, the Commission has repeatedly informed the recognised political parties which had failed to submit their audited account reports for 2021 to hand them over to the Commission.

A discussion is to be held with the secretaries of the political parties on March 23 at 10 a.m.

It was decided to release the official statements or information related to the Elections Commission to all media institutions weekly or earlier as needed with the signature of the Election Commission Chairman.

The Commission yesterday decided to request all media institutions to refrain from publishing statements or informationwhich come from the parties other than the Elections Commission. The Commission which met yesterday decided not to hold any liability regarding the false statements of information.
