Parents of the infant left in the train arrested

A shocking story of a baby who was abandoned on a train was reported today on multiple news media. The baby was found left in a toilet of the 'Meenagaya' express train which was scheduled to run from Colombo to Batticaloa. The infant was discovered at the Colombo Fort railway station at around 7.00 pm last night.

Police has now managed to arrest both parents of the infant. The suspected mother was arrested yesterday by the Bandarawela Police and the father, was apprehended by the Koslanda Police. According the Police media division, both suspects are to be transferred to the Fort Magistrate court by the respective courts as the incident has occurred at Fort.

Investigations revealed that the couple was unmarried. It seems that the couple has met in Colombo, has left the two weeks old baby in the train and parted ways.

The little girl was admitted to Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital in Colombo and she is currently been taken care of.
