A special procession named Janaraja Perahera will be held tomorrow (19) to mark the 75th Independence Celebrations of the country, said Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Somaratne Vidanapathirana.
He said the procession commencing at 6.30 pm from Sri Dalada Maligawa will parade the streets. The Janaraja Perahera is organized on the request of President Ranil Wickremesinghe under the patronage of Mahanayake Theras of the Malwathu Asgiri Chapter. The Janaraja Perahera is being held for the fifth time.
The Ministry Secretary said that the Government is expected to spend less than Rs. 1 million for the Perahera .
