Foreign Reserves pass US$ 2 Bn mark

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Reserves rose to USD 2,120 million in January from USD 1,898 million in December 2022, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) statistics indicated.”

This is the first time the gross official reserves passed the mark of USD 2 billion after February last year.

This includes proceeds from the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) swap equivalent to around US dollars 1.4 billion, which is subject to conditions on usability,” the CBSL stated. The gross official reserves includes USD 29 million in gold, USD 22 million in Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), USD 4 million in the IMF Reserve and USD 1 million in Other Reserve Assets.
