Mahanayakes of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera, Mahanayake of Malwathu Chapter Most Ven. Thibbotuwave Sri Sumangala Thera and Diyawadana Nilame of Dalada Maligawa Pradeep Nilanga Dela have requested Inspector General C. D. Wickremaratne to take steps to prevent the slanderous propaganda in some social media defaming the Dalada Maligawa and the Mahanayake Theras.
Addressing a letter to the Inspector General of Police, it has been said that letters have been sent to the Inspector General of Police regarding the malicious statements being made through social media and other media on sacred Dalada Maligawa and the Malwathu-Asgiri Mahanayake Theras and the Diyawadana Nilame.
They have thanked the Inspector General of Police for paying prompt attention to the matter and taking appropriate measures.
Nevertheless, once again through social media, baseless, false and hateful statements are being made targeting the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Malwathu-Asgiri Mahanayake Theras and Diyavadana Nilamewya.
The letter also said that these malicious campaign is aimed at undermining the faith and sacredness of Buddhist people at home and abroad for the Dalada Maligawa as well as religious services.
