Former Davis Cup player and men’s singles champion Sharmal Dissanayake is set to play against Chathurya Nilaweera in the men’s singles final at the First Capital SSC Open Tennis Championship today (22).
In the semi-finals played on Friday (20) Dissanayake beat Gayanga Weerasekera in straight sets 6/2, 6/3 with a grand display of tennis.
Chathurya Nilaweera beat Kiran Vairavanathan in the second semi-final in a three setter, 6/1, 5/7, 6/3 to enter the final.
Nehara Weerawansa will take on Saajida Razick in the women’s singles final also to be played today. Weerawansa has got her game to reach peak form and beat Dinara de Silva easily in straight sets 6/1, 6/2 in the first semi-final.
Razick has also found form and beat Disni Serasinghe 6/1, 6/4 in the other semi-final played on Saturday (21). (TBR)
