Professional training for youth seeking overseas employment

A well-equipped workforce is to be created by the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara this year. Accordingly, youths who wish to go abroad would be professionally trained and they would be sent overseas as skilled technicians.

This specific training program will be launched on January 16. The following areas of professionalism will be covered under this program such as information technology section, caregiver section, hospitality section, finance and marketing section, technical section, and the construction section, Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary (Administration) R.M.Jayaratne told the Sunday Observer. He said the project would be handled by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau. Nearly, 150,000 job seekers would be trained and Rs. 34 million would be allocated for this project. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Women, Child and Social Empowerment has made arrangements to offer pregnant mothers a bag of nutritious food items worth Rs.45,000 from this year. This nutrition allowance to pregnant mothers was Rs. 20,000 and it has now been increased up to Rs. 45,000/- taking the present economic crisis into account, he said.
