
The Government will allocate Rs. 1,000 million next year to provide internet facilities to 1,000 Government schools in remote areas.
The project will be launched early next year under Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha’s concept of digitalisation of education.
Kurunegala District Senior Director of Education W.M. Balasooriya said the number of zonal education offices will be increased to 120 and mobile service programs will be organised at electoral level to seek solutions to the burning problems of teachers and school principals.
He was speaking at a meeting of school heads of the North Western Province on Thursday.
He said a drug-free country will be created for the future generation and around 10,000 seminars will be held during the next three months for drug-addicted youngsters at leading schools.
Admission of students to in between classes of Government schools will take place only after March 24 next year depending on the vacancies in those schools.
Balasooriya said the students who qualified to enter GCE (A.L) classes according to the recently issued results of the GCE (O.L) 2021 can submit their applications to the schools when the specific study streams are not available for them to follow the Advanced Level classes at their present schools.
Such students should not direct their applications to the Education Ministry under any circumstances. No students will be admitted to Government schools for in between classes for 2022 after December 5, 2022, he added.
