Budget 2023 tomorrow

President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies Minister will present Budget 2023 to Parliament tomorrow, November 14 at 1.30 pm.

The debate on the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill will begin on November 15 as decided on by the Committee on Parliamentary Business and the vote on the Second Reading has been scheduled for November 22.

The debate on the Committee Stage of the Appropriation Bill will begin on November 23 and the vote will be taken on December 8.

Parliament is due to meet on all other days of the week except on Sundays and Poya days from November 14 to December 8.

State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that a series of proposals aimed at welfare and developing the country will be presented in the Budget. He said that it will contain a series of medium and long-term proposals to rebuild the economy that has collapsed.

Siyambalapitiya said that making the public service more efficient, digitalising public service work, and providing more friendly investment facilities to the private sector will be done through Budget 2023.

He said the President had advised everyone to prepare a Budget with welfare-oriented proposals to help people in the country who are working hard to make a living in the face of rising commodity prices and inflation.
