Eight-member committee to start talks

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to appoint an eight-member committee to start negotiations of restructuring the country’s debt with India and China.

The Committee will comprise Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry, PC, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayaka, President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayaka, President’s Senior Adviser on Economic Affairs Dr. R. H. S. Samaratunga, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, and Ex.Central Bank Governor Indrajith Cumaraswamy.
