Appeal to help Ashoka

6 November, 2022

Wathukarage Ashoka Thilakarathna (33) is a resident of Pussathota Grama Niladhari division in Waligepola Pradeshiya Sabha in the district of Ratnapura.

One day when Ashoka was seven years old, he was walking to school when a speeding motorbike knocked him throwing him off the road causing his head to hit against a rock causing injuries to his eyes.

He was treated at the Government hospitals in Pallebedda and Ratnapura by general practitioners, but there had been no proper diagnosis of his condition.

Later, specialist doctors at the National Hospital, Colombo had found that Ashoka had developed a nervous system disorder as a result of the road accident.

After about six months, he had completely lost his sight.

The doctors have said that he would probably not regain his sight and advised him to take medicine on a regular basis.

According to Ashoka, he has to find more than Rs. 13,000 per month to buy the medicines prescribed by Dr. Srikanth Srinivasan, Consultant Neurologist at Lanka Hospitals, some time ago and he is not in a position to find that kind of money.

Therefore, Ashoka appeals to donors to make their financial contributions to his bank account at People’s Bank, Godakawela Branch, bearing name and A/C No.

Wathukarage Ashoka Thilakarathna, 245-2001-2005-6034.

Ashoka can be contacted on mobile number 0774277975.
