Royal and S. Thomas’ will play their 26th annual football encounter for the Blue Derby Trophy at the Race Course ground on Monday (31) with the kick off scheduled for 3 pm.
The Blue Derby trophy match was inaugurated in 1994. Royal are dominating the series with a total of 17 wins while S. Thomas’ have only five wins.
The Royal team is led by Minuk Pallegangoda and his deputy will be Daham Makumbura. They are coached by Anton Joy.
The Thomian team is captained by NMM Perera. They are coached by Priyankara Perera.
Jayantha Lokugamage the first captain of the Royal football team in 1972/73 will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Sumith Walpola a former national captain will be the guest of honour.
