
S. Thomas’ College oarsmen paddled smoothly and efficiently to beat Royal College in their rowing Regatta by a comprehensive 42 points to 10 at the Beira Lake yesterday.
The main and final race was the Boat race which S. Thomas’ led from start to finish and won by more than one length. As this race offered a maximum of 12 points they finally aggregated 42 points. Royal who had collected only 10 points remained with that score.
The Thomian team comprised Ayuka Amarasekara, Rishen Perera, Arittha Raddalgoda, Aedan Jansz and Nehan Sithamparam as the Cox. It was a just reward for all the hard work they had put in during training for this prestigious event.
The Royal team for the Boat race comprised Saadh Ajmal, Viruna Cooray, Venuk Rajapakse, Sarith Abeysirigunawardana and Anuk Suraweera as the Cox.
The Thomians also won the B Sculls, B Pairs, A Pairs, A Doubles, U-16 fours, and the B Fours events. Their old boys also won the race held for past rowers.
Royal managed to win the A Sculls, B Doubles and the C Fours events during the events held throughout the day.
All races were run over 1000 metres and the tally now stands at S. Thomas’ leading with 24 wins while Royal are closely behind with 22 wins.
