Green Productivity Awards

Green Productivity Awards 2021 organised by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP) was held at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo on October 14. This was the very first award of this nature in the country.

The objective of this effort was to evaluate and honour organisations with the best Green Productivity practices based on leadership, environmental sustainability, enhancing productivity and sustainable innovation and social contribution. The assessment was based on the Green Productivity Criteria of the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) of Japan. Twenty-five companies in both the private and public sector applied for this award. The awards ranged from Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Award. All the participants will receive a certificate of participation.

The Chief Guest was Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Guest of Honour was Vimlendra Sharan, FAO Representative for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The Speakers were Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Prof. Rangika Halwathura, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa.

The SLAAQP founded in 1996 contributes to the enhancement of the quality and productivity. The Vision of the Association is to be the premier organisation nurturing World Class Excellence in Quality and Productivity in Sri Lanka. Its mission is to build competencies and promote practice of quality and productivity concepts and techniques through inculcating quality and productivity culture in the society.

It provides national and international platforms for employees at all levels of the organisations to showcase their quality and productivity achievements and strike partnerships with international organisations in the advancement of quality and productivity.

The Association is engaged in providing training to industry on concepts of quality and productivity including Quality Circles and Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, 5S, Lean and Six Sigma, Green Productivity among many other areas. It also provides platforms for national competitions including National Convention for Quality and Productivity , Total Quality Management and Ayano Excellence Awards and 5S with a view to provide opportunities for companies to showcase their excellence in the arena of quality and productivity.
