
Lakshina Rodrigo is a cricketer who captained St. Peter’s College with true leadership qualities to be emulated.
A promising right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper, he demonstrated impressive skill and spectacular performances while representing Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team with distinction with Charith Asalanka as captain.
As a consistent run-maker with a sound technique, he played in the Sri Lanka Cricket under-23 provincial tournaments as well.
Apart from cricket Rodrigo belongs to a rare breed who also had fantastic academic qualifications where he scored 9 As at the GCE O/L and 3 As at the GCE A/L.
He has a degree in Bachelor of Business Management in marketing (Special) from the University of Kelaniya and another degree (Bachelor of Business Double Major in Management and International Business) at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. He is the only child of former all rounder Priyalal Rodrigo.

Q: If you could edit your past, what would you change?
I will never worry about the past. The past is what made me to be what I am in present position.

Yes
Q: If you had access to a time machine what would you change?
I don’t think it can keep people alive. So I am happy with what I have done so far.
Q: What motivates you in your life?
My family, relatives and friends motivate me. Also targets in each situation and role models which relate to those targets will motivate me.
Q: If you could choose any career right now, what would it be?
I will choose a career which makes me satisfied. Currently I would love to complete my higher studies while working at Hayleys and doing my own Businesses. And I want to continue playing cricket as well.
Q: What forms of music do you listen to?
Classical music.
Q: What’s the best thing you would like to hear from someone?
Honesty.
Q: What made you choose sports?
I started doing sports in Grade 3 and I believe that my father’s cricketing background made me to that position.
Q: Thus far what was your most unforgettable sporting incident?
There are few. Representing the Sri Lanka U19 team, winning the Joe-Pete big match in 2016, becoming schoolboy cricketer of the year in 2015 and becoming most outstanding sportsman of the year in 2016.
Q: What’s your best school sporting achievement?
Captaining the St Peter’s College as a 4th year Coloursman in 2016 and scoring two consecutive back to back 1000 plus runs in two consecutive seasons. I also received the Peterite Gold Award.
Q: What is your idea of happiness?
Freedom and satisfaction.
Q: What has been your biggest disappointment?
Wish I could have continued playing cricket while doing my higher studies at the same. Clubs were not ready to excuse me for my busy schedule in the University.
Q: Most important lesson life has taught you?
Learn from mistakes.
