Water consumers default Rs. 6,200 million

Consumers of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) have defaulted the payment of their monthly bills for years to the tune of Rs. 6,200 million. Most of the defaulters are commercial firms and other institutes in the country, Kurunegala District Manager of the NWSDB, K. Jayantha told the Sunday Observer.

The NWSDB is taking steps to recover these payments from consumers and those who had ignored settling their bills for long durations would have their water supply discontinued soon, he said.
