The students of The Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP) will hold an annual exhibition on Mental Health and Psychology Awareness at the “CIRP” premises, Galle Road, Colombo-4 from October 12 to 15 from 10 am to 5pm.

Mental health and psychological well-being are important aspects of human existence. They improve one’s quality of life and effectiveness in all aspects and domains of life.

At a time when we are more socially, economically, and professionally burdened than ever, our ability to survive is heavily reliant on our psychological resilience.

Sri Lankans have achieved remarkable progress in the areas of physical health, education, and social development, but mental health and psychological well-being have been largely ignored.

This is reflected in high rates of suicide, distress, frustration and bitterness found in many socio-economic groups; increasing levels of aggression and violence; and the number of people becoming mentally ill rising exponentially.

Countries observe World Mental Health Day Every year on October 10, to raise awareness and combat stigma surrounding mental health issues.

This project, among many others, encourages our fellow Sri Lankan citizens to take care of their mental health by educating them on psychological concepts and raising awareness to reduce the stigma associated with mental health. This is one of the largest public mental health exhibitions in Sri Lanka open to the public.
