Sri Lanka’s netball team led by Gayanjali Amarawansa produced a superb performance to beat Hong Kong 67-43 and enter the final of the Asian Netball championship which is scheduled to be played today in Singapore.

Sri Lanka will meet the winner of the other semi final between Singapore and Malaysia.

Amarawansa said the Sri Lankan team is in high spirits after defeating all their opponents in the run-up to the final.

“We beat India and the Philippines in the first round and beat Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong the top teams in the second round and were able to maintain a high standard before the final.

“We have a well experience side and our goal shooter (6 foot 11 inches tall) Tharjani Shivalingam strengthens the side with her superb performance.

“Former captains Tharjani, Chaturangi Jayasuriya, Semini de Alwis, Gayani Dissanayake and my deputy skipper Dulangi Wannithilleka add more morale and boost to the side while the young players are learning from them said,” said Amarawansa who is confident of Sri Lanka retaining the Asian title although her team is expecting a tough final.
