Myanmar presented over 1,000 tons of rice to Sri Lanka at a port in the commercial city of Yangon, the state-run Myanmar News Agency reported on Saturday.
Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo told the handing over ceremony on Friday that the donation was a token of support from Myanmar’s Government and people to the people of Sri Lanka.
He hoped that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Myanmar J.M. Bandara thanked the Myanmar Government for the donation, adding that the donation is helpful for Sri Lanka, which is facing an economic crisis. (Xinhua)
