Chaminda Rajapakse produced a superb all-round performance to pilot Colombo Masters to victory by two wickets over Legends of Richmond in their Masters 35-overs cricket encounter played at the Sappher Stadium (Mattegoda Army ground) recently.
He stroked a quick-fire 70 runs off 51 deliveries inclusive of four sixes and three fours and later captured two vital wickets.
Batting first the Legends of Richmond scored 198 for nine wickets off the allotted 35 overs.
In reply Colombo Masters scored 199 for 8 in 33.1 overs.
Nishantha Mendis played a pulsating knock to top score with 82 runs before retiring for Legends of Richmond.
Chasing the challenging target Colombo Masters were struggling on 82 for four wickets. Then came the excellent display by Chaminda Rajapakshe and Suranjith Dharmasena who made a useful contribution of 33 runs, to turn the result in their favour. (TBR)
