Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe took oaths as the acting President on Friday, July 15. He was sworn in before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya. His swearing-in came shortly after Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana officially announced the resignation of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the President of Sri Lanka from July 14, 2022. Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath was also present.
