The Health authorities in Batticaloa raided shops selling cigarettes in Batticaloa, and warned shop owners that cigarettes should not be sold to those who are less than 18 years of age and that cigarettes should not be sold loose to mark International Tobacco Day. They also made people aware of the harmful effects of smoking.
