Home gardens will help overcome food scarcity - Mahinda Amaraweera

5 June, 2022

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has called upon Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, parliamentarians and Urban Councils and Pradeshiya Sabha members of all political parties to set up home gardens in their residential premises.

This will help overcome the worldwide scarcity of food which may affect our country as well, a senior official of the North Western Province Governor’s office told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

Minister Amaraweera said that people’s representatives have to be models to the public, at all times. Therefore, political leaders should guide the voters first in the country’s development.

Arrangements have been made to launch nearly 3,850 new home gardens in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the North Western Province during the first week of June.
