
On Vesak Poya Day the Berlin Temple which is the oldest in Europe had many events to celebrate the life of the Buddha, his enlightenment and his attainment to parinibbana which is considered the most sacred day of the year by Buddhists world over.
A virtuous meditation program was conducted at the Berlin Buddhist Temple with the participation of a large number of Sri Lankans.
Sri Lankans as well as persons from Germany, Thailand, Burma, Bangladesh, China, Argentina and many other countries participated at the event.
The Vesak celebrations were attended by four members of the Maha Sangha, including the Chief Incumbent of the Copenhagen Buddhist Temple in Denmark.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Germany Manori Unamboowe also attended the event along with embassy staff. The administrator of the temple Tissa Weeraratne organised and conducted the program.
