The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) summoned Litro officials and instructions were given to expedite LP gas distribution with emphasis to supply 60% of the daily 80,000 cylinders to highly populated Colombo and Gampaha districts. With news of underhand operations by agents, the Military and police were called in to provide protection to distribution trucks and assist in the retail sales. Litro Gas officials said the gas shortage would ease in the coming days since two tankers have reached the country now.
