State employees who invariably enjoyed an uninterrupted remuneration and other perks during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic compared to their private sector colleagues, readily took part in strikes of late on unreasonable demands while this ‘Day labourer’ whom our staff photographer Chinthaka Kumarasinghe captured yesterday in Pettah, takes a respite from his laborious job, to quench his thirst, epitomising the true meaning of May Day.
