Media Minister Dr. Nalaka Godahewa said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has not accepted his letter of resignation from his ministerial portfolio.
Dr. Godahewa said he handed over the resignation letter to the President two days ago, to make way for an interim government with greater political stability.
He had told the media that he offered to resign as he wanted the Cabinet to be more inclusive and in line with what most people want. He said however, the President didn’t accept his letter of resignation, adding that he hopes more changes will happen in due course.
Dr. Godahewa was one of the 17 new Cabinet Ministers who were appointed on April 18 in an attempt to bring in young Ministers.
