The Battle of Maroons cricket match between Ananda College and Nalanda College played for the late P de S Kularathne Trophy will be played on April 3 at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The boys from Ananda College will be led by all-rounder Saviru Bandara while the lads from Nalanda College will be captained by Raveen de Silva.

According to the organisers, spectators could witness the match only away from the action on Dialog television channel 140.

At present Ananda leads the series with 12 wins while Nalanda has six wins under its belt.

Ananda and Nalanda have so far produced more than 50 cricketers who donned the Sri Lanka cap including the late Bandula Warnapura, Arjuna Ranatunga, Roshan Mahanama, Marvan Atapattu, Mahela Jayawardena and Dinesh Chandimal who have had the honour of leading the country.

It is worth noting that the first Test cricket captain of the country the late Bandula Warnapura was a proud product of Nalanda College while Arjuna Ranatunga, who led the Sri Lankans in the famous World Cup victory in 1996, hails from Ananda.

The match is sponsored by Dialog.
