The commemoration ceremony of former State Minister of Transport Yunus Lebbe Mohammed Farook, popularly known as U. L. M. was held yesterday at Kannaththota, his hometown attended by people of all walks of life as a token of gratitude for the immeasurable service rendered to the people in the area and Kegalle district during his tenure of office from 1988 – 2000.
He passed away on August 10, 2021 at the age of 80.
The road from Kannaththota to Ihalagama was named as “U. L. M. Farook Mawatha” following a request by the people of Ruwanwella electorate.
Senior parliamentarians of SJB, Ranjith Maddumabandra, Imithiaz baker Marker, Kabir Hashim, Sujith Perera were also present.
