The ‘New Rice Festival of Kataragama’ was held on March 26 at the Kirivehera in Kataragama, Ruhuna to coincide with the 55th National New Rice Festival. The Maha Sangha arrived on the night of March 25 and held a pirith pinkama to wish the country and the nation to achieve prosperity.
Chamal Rajapaksa - Minister of Irrigation and Water Management, Basnayake Nilame of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya, Dishan Gunasekara, Kataragama Divisional Secretary A.M Nandasiri, Chanaka Amil Rangana, Chairman of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha and others were present at the event. The religious rituals and pirith pinkama was performed by the Ven. Kapugama Saranatissa Thera.
