An awareness program on the CRM being held in the Grama Niladhari Division of Koralaipattu west - Oddamavadi Pradeshiya Sabha.

A Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) to ensure coexistence and social harmony within the geographical areas of local Government authorities is being put in place in the Karativu, Lahugala, Pottuvil, Kralai Pattu, Oddamavadi and Earavur Pradeshiya Sabha areas in the Eastern Province.

Initially committees comprising of elected councillors of the Local Government authority and community representatives of the multiethnic groups are setup.

Next, the guidelines for the CRM are developed by the committees themselves and validated with wider community groups at the Grama Niladhari Division (GND) level.

On completion and finalisation of the CRM system, awareness programs are held at GNDs by the committee members.

It is expected that the response system will facilitate immediate actions to mitigate any tense situations which might hinder the peaceful coexistence of the multiethnic, multireligious and multicultural communities resident in the area. (FSLGA)
