Sri Lanka Cricket has been awarded the rights to host the Asia Cup from August 27 to September 11 this year following a decision taken by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) yesterday.

The decision was made by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) at its annual general meeting held yesterday in Colombo that was chaired by its president Jay Shah who is also the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva also attended the meeting in which it was decided to appoint Pankaj Khimji who is the president of the Oman Cricket Association as vice president of the ACC replacing Mahinda Vallipuram from the Malaysian Cricket Association.

The current membership of the ACC also decided that the tenure of Shah, the Executive Board and the Committee of the ACC continue until 2024.
