A new bridge connnecting Pigeon Island Matara to the mainland was commissioned by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Shavendra Silva yesterday morning.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed the Sri Lanka Army to construct a new bridge connecting Pigeon Island and the mainland after the dilapidated suspension bridge collapsed suddenly on March 4, this year.
The Army accomplished the construction work within a week.
