The ‘Madya Sameeksha-IV’ scholarly by the Sri Lanka Press Council was launched on March 2 at the auditorium of the Department of Government Information in the presence of Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma and Secretary to the Ministry of Media Anusha Palpita.
“Madya Sameeksha-IV” volume is named as Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa tribute volume. The key note address was made by veteran journalist Nalaka Gunawardene while the scholarly lecture on the tribute volume was delivered by Dr. Tudor Weerasinghe.
The book was offered to one of his relatives as an honour to Dr. Edwin Ariyadasa. Sri Lanka Press Council has hithero published 13 scholarly volumes on newspapers and various fields of media. Consequently, current edition “Madya Sameeksha-IV” is named as “the emergence of social media”.
Many scholars of social media has contributed articles for this volume being the first publication in Sri Lanka on social media.
