A discussion was held in Colombo recently on the instructions of Minister of Highways, Johnson Fernando on the development of 89 km roads at a cost of Rs 4,700 million from Vakarai to Manmunai Pattu, Arayampathy via Valaichchenai in Batticaloa.
The Batticaloa district has been divided into two sectors: BT1 and BT2 by the World Bank for the construction of 138 km of roads.
Batticaloa district Parliamentarian and Coordinating Committee Chairman Sivanesadurai Chandrakanthan, Secretary of the Ministry of High Ways, S. Preamsiri and Secretary to the Coordinating committee Chairman, Mangaleswery Shanger and other officials were present.
