A two-day photography festival was held at the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council Hallaj Hall recently.
The festival was organised by the Club Photo Ceylonica President Dr. Aqil Ahmad Sharifuddeen and photographer Abdul Hameed Thahir. Photos depicting history, culture and nature were on display at the exhibition. Akkaraipattu Mayor Athaullah Ahamed Zackie declared open the exhibition. Digamadulla District Parliamentarian and National Congress (NC) Leader A.L.M.Athaullah was the Chief Guest.
Several persons from the Northern and Eastern provinces gathered at the event to congratulate the photographers of Club Photo Ceylonica. Several award winning photos of well known photographers of the Northern and Eastern Provinces were also on display.
Ampara Additional District Secretary V.Jegatheesan, Eastern Province Cultural Department Director S.Navaneethan, Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretary (DS) T.M.M.Ansar, Ampara District Cultural Co-ordination Officer A.L.Thowfeek, FNPIAS International Award Winner Harsha Maduranga, and PhotoHub President Praween Samarakoon and many others were present on the occasion.
