A collection of poems for youth by Nuwan Kumara Katugampola, Smart Koombiyage Walakulu Savariya (Smart Ant's Adventures on a Cloud)- his latest publication for young adults, was launched at Sudharshi Hall, Colombo recently.
The first copies of the book were presented to youth
writers Amanda Dalupotha and Chamathka Kaveen, and his two daughters Pavani Deshamani and Buwanadhi Manithya at a ceremony held in keeping with Covid protocols.
University academics Mahinda Kumara Dalupoltha and Suminda Kithsiri Gunaratna in keynote speeches
highlighted the importance and timeliness of this publication, especially at a time where youth, during the most active time of their life, are trapped in a world of social distancing and lockdown, away from friends, school and society as a whole.
Accomplished youth writers Amanda Dalupotha and Chamathka Kaveen also addressed the gathering.
Kavishka Deshan, Upekha Devmini, Nipuni Bhagya and Chinthana Lankaputhra recited poems to the audience.
